FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maplewood, New Jersey – December 18, 2024 – Support Inclusion in Tech (SiNC) is thrilled to announce the expansion of its grant program to include applicants from North and South America. Initially launched in June 2024 to celebrate Pride Month, the program now offers four grants of $240 USD each to individuals in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America.
This expansion reinforces SiNC’s commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the global WordPress community. By extending eligibility to all of North and South America, SiNC aims to further uplift and empower voices that have historically been underrepresented in tech.
“We believe that a truly inclusive WordPress community requires a global perspective,” said Winstina Hughes, founder of Support Inclusion in Tech. “By expanding our grant program, we are taking a significant step towards ensuring that everyone, regardless of their geographic location, has the opportunity to contribute and thrive within the WordPress ecosystem.”
The grant program remains open to all WordPress contributors who have demonstrated significant contributions to the community through their involvement in local meetups, WordCamps, or code contributions. WordPress contributors can opt into a named directory starting in January 2025, and selections will be made in March 2025. Names will be entered into a random name picker for selection.
This initiative builds upon SiNC’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity within the WordPress community, including financial support for underrepresented speakers through WordCamp travel expense reimbursement and a mentorship program.
