We’re Funding WordPress Contributors Again—Here’s How

You know what it actually costs to contribute to open source. The travel, the internet bills, the software subscriptions, the workspace costs—even the coffee and tea that fuel late-night contributions. Support you need to participate fully. You’re covering these costs yourself while giving your time and expertise to the community.

That’s why Support Inclusion in Tech (SiNC) started the Contributor Funding program in 2025.

We’re putting money directly in the hands of WordPress contributors and organizers—no strings about deliverables, no promotional obligations. Just practical support for practical needs.

We’re not pretending this fixes everything about open source sustainability. It’s one piece of a much bigger puzzle, one way of getting resources to people who are already doing the work but shouldering the costs themselves.

After learning a ton from our first year, we’re opening applications for 2026. Same approach—trust people, be flexible, practice good stewardship—while making sure we’re reaching contributors everywhere. This funding is open to all demographics.

Apply here through February 28th

We operate on good faith and expect it in return. This is about supporting real contributions, maintaining community trust, and removing barriers instead of talking about them.

Supporting contributors isn’t a checkbox we’re ticking once. It’s ongoing work, and we need help spreading the word to folks who could use this support.
